Today, I went to the Yves Saint Laurent's retrospective at Le Petit Palais in Paris. Although I had to queue during 45 minutes, I really enjoyed it. The haute couture designs were wonderful but I found them more like costumes than clothes. The ready-to-wear designs were amazingly inspirationnal, particularly:
- his 1958 collection for Dior
- his first collections for his own Maison de couture during the 60's: the way he always put a hat to complete the outfit, his use of bows and lavallières, the big big pull-overs with pencil skirts.
