Broadway is just... hundreds of euros away

A friend of mine, a dance connoisseur, did 10 days of intensive dance training in New York, thanks to this organisation: Artmosphere. She was absolutely delighted. It's a little bit expensive (I can't afford it) but it's true it seems to be great. You have classes in New York's best dance schools: the Alvin Alley school, the Broadway Dance Center...
It's the dreaming hollydays for every dance enthusiast!

Never say Never

I've just done what I tought I would NEVER do: I've just paid to get a job!
It's something you cannot imagine when you're an average worker but when you are an artist, you have to get used to this (swindling) way of doing
I have different ways to see auditions notices. I can go to le Centre du Marais ou le Studio Hamonic, where they display auditions notices; But most of the time I use websites:
  • Castprod.com is 100% free but not totally trustworthy. For example, stripclubs display their auditions there. And, from my experience, when those clubs say they are seaching for "dancer", they are actually searching for stippers.
  • Paris-Casting.com is a good one and with a little bit of wit you can get round the paying part!! All the auditions notice you see on it can be seen at the Cantre du Marais on the auditions boards.
  • The CND website is totally free and 100% trust worthy but it's mainly for contemporary dancers. So if you're not one of them.... TOO BAD!
  • Casting.fr: that's the one I've just paid for.... It seems to have some interesting auditions (included the one of etoilecasting.com ) and I've already had one response!!!

For sure, it will be fun as GANGNAM STYLE is a style that suits everybody (with a little humour):

Not a dancer, just a bitch

Here what I've just read on Fitperez.com : "A Zumba instructor, Alexis Wright, turned her fitness dance studio into a brothel when she started whoring herself out all over Kennebunk, Maine. She is in big trouble for over one hundred counts of prostitution, violation of privacy, tax evasion and more."
It seems that I'm hearing right now all the people saying:" I knew it! Dance is just about sex. Dancers are just another kind of bitches" Haven't you heard those kind of (dumb)people? Well,we have to tell them that this girl has never ever be a dancer, she's just a bitch. Bitches sells sex and sadness; dancers sells beauty, movements, happiness and life

Rosas, a pop still edgy company

The Belgium Rosas company, leaded by Teresa de Keersmaeker, celebrates the Martin Magiela for H&M collection launch
From Vogue.com: "The Maison Martin Margiela for H&M party (on october the 24th), held inside an abandoned nine story building on Beekman Street"

Remember the Rosas company?
It's the one Beyoncé was slightly inspired from for a Countdown music video

Ballet Old School

Pas de trois from Paquita with Vadim Budarim, Nina Soldun and Inna Korneyeva from the Mariinsky Ballet
Film from the 1960's

Funny to see how the ballet technic was less precise at the time and the girls bigger, stockier....
Seeing all the efforts humans need to do to jump 1 meter above the ground, the birds must poke fun at us!! I think the poetic universal ballet spirit is all about that: the competition with nature. We, Human Beings, won't let it win without fighting....at least, dancers won't!

Once again, dance+fashion

A fashion film from Martine's Rose

From BoF: "Directed by Paul Gore and screened on fashion film website Test to coincide with the inaugural London Collections: Men, held earlier this year, this film for London-based menswear designer Martine Rose is a paired back affair featuring a dancer in a hoodie and MA-1 bomber jacket seamlessly transitioning from ballet to breakdancing to kickboxing and back again"

Audition at Le Lido

Me, backstage, just before the audition
Well, I must say, speaking of danse, it's not a really good time for me:
  • I've dropped the idea of taking my EAT exam because I felt like I should be focusing on taking auditions for shows I'd like to be part of than taking an exam for something I don't really wanna do.
  • People are not answering my applications. Don't know why...I had one really nice audition at Le Cirque d'Hiver three weeks ago and since, nothing.
Well, let me tell you my story with Le lido. First thing you need to know is that it's not ending well I wasn't choosen :-( ! I sent an email last sunday and on tuesday I had an answer, saying: "we have an audition on friday". I wasn't really prepared but I couldn't refuse. It turned out to be some kind of "private audition": we were only two girls, the other one was coming straight from the USA to take three auditions there. We were taught a choregraphy but rapidly stopped by what seemed to be the Big Boss "you're not what we are looking for". He clearly didn't have time to waste. After getting dressed, I came shyly to ask for some explanation and he was really clear: "you're technic is not good enought". HARD
After being depressed the whole week end, I've begun to work again HARDER
